Volito vs Motion Canvas.
Motion Canvas scripts animations as TypeScript generators and previews them in an editor. Revideo, another TypeScript engine for video, renders headless. Volito ships ready-made graphics and renders them with no browser, from the command line, Node or an agent.
Checked against Motion Canvas 3.17.2, Revideo 0.11.0 and Volito 0.3.0 on 2026-11-01, from each tool's own site and npm. Sources.

Different tools for different jobs. Pick by what you are making, not by the table.
Pick Volito for
- Ready-made lower thirds, titles, charts and transitions instead of a blank scene
- Your brand on every graphic: 36 styles or your own DESIGN.md, at 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5
- Headless rendering from the CLI or Node, for batches and servers
- Overlays with real alpha (ProRes 4444, HEVC, WebM) for Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut and OBS
- Agents that preview, check and render through MCP, with their code sandboxed
Graphics in your brand, rendered fast, from code or an agent.
Pick Motion Canvas for
- Explainers scripted step by step, timed to a voice-over in its editor
- Diagrams and code walkthroughs built from scratch
- A mature MIT library with 19.6k GitHub stars
Hand-scripted explainer animation.
Pick Revideo for
- Whole videos with media, written in TypeScript
- Headless and serverless rendering, or Midrender as a hosted service
Code-first videos with media, rendered headless.
Render a Volito graphic with alpha and drop it into any project that takes video: the lower thirds and titles can sit on top of an explainer made somewhere else.
Questions
How is Volito different from Motion Canvas?
Motion Canvas gives you a library and an editor to script each animation yourself. Volito gives you 107 finished graphics you fill in and render in your brand, and the same engine for writing your own.
Can Volito render from the command line?
Yes. npx volito render renders any item to ProRes 4444, HEVC, WebM, MP4, GIF, PNG or SVG with no browser, and the Node API does the same from your own code.
